I am officially calling a do-over.

COVID-19 blazed through my house, and each member of my family was a testament to what a weird and freaky lottery COVID is. The youngest in the house (15) had cold like symptoms, one of my sons tested positive but had no symptoms, Mr. Groove Barre had flu-like symptoms for 3 days, and I had a cold coupled with breathlessness for over 2 weeks. My cardio is still suffering one month later.

The only thing that made me feel remotely better was chocolate. And chips. And snacks in general. There was a lot of snacking going on. And lying around trying not to freak out while breathing.

So yeah, I’d like a do-over!

Maybe you had COVID too. Maybe you lost your mojo with the shutdown. Maybe you never had your mojo and you’re starting from square one. Maybe you stayed perfectly on track and can inspire us all. Everyone is invited to a fresh new start, a clean slate, and a time to renew your commitment to fitness and health!

Looking for inspiration? Here’s what’s on my mind:

Examine your relationship with alcohol. During a few of the shutdowns, my drinking spiraled so I couldn’t imagine a day without a couple of glasses of wine. That scared me, so I stopped drinking for a year. I’m just over 5 months in.

Examine your relationship with sugar. I basically traded my bad relationship with alcohol in for one with sugar. Not good. Are you someone that is good at moderation? Or are you an all or nothing person. I am not so clever at moderating. See above section on alcohol. Did I mention I used to smoke? Sugar is the new smoking. I absolutely cannot imagine life without cake though. So, maybe 1 month without added sugar (and avoiding natural sugary loopholes like mangos and dried fruit). Good news – February is a short month!

Daily Meditation. True and heinous confession for a yoga teacher: I really don’t love meditating.  In fact, I really hate it. I have STUFF to do and sitting here with my eyes shut breathing trying not to think about it is HARD. But as a yoga teacher, I know it’s good for me, and good for you. Commit for a month. Try 5 minutes a day.

Ditch the processed food. If you can’t pronounce it (quinoa aside), don’t eat it.

Did you find something?  2022 is going to be awesome. See you soon!
